Frank Geiser is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Visual Communication and Design at Purdue University Northwest. He earned a B.F.A. from Xavier University in 2018 and an M.F.A. from the University of Kentucky in 2021. Geiser received a scholarship to study art at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2014, where he discovered his passion for photography. During his undergraduate studies, he was awarded the Winter-Cohen Family Brueggeman Fellowship in 2017, which funded a journey to India, Greece, France, and Italy to create photographs of monastic and ascetic life. He also received the Xavier University Art Award in 2018. Following his B.F.A., Geiser was awarded a fully funded graduate teaching assistant position at the University of Kentucky in 2018, where he taught classes in digital art and photography until completing his M.F.A. in 2021.
Geiser's research interests and teaching focus encompass Visual Communication Design, Photography, Drawing, and Color Theory. His interdisciplinary art practice balances monumentality and impermanence, blending industrial design, photography, installation, painting, and video to preserve transient moments and clarify material history. This approach is linked by a technical use of light and conceptual exploration of memory, aiming to remind viewers to be present and prioritize mindfulness. His artworks have been exhibited internationally, with several pieces included in the 21c Museum Hotels collection. In addition to his studio practice, Geiser contributes as an art writer, publishing editorial reviews in Newcity Art magazine, such as 'Theaster Gates’ Smart Museum Show Marks a Historic Moment for His Hometown Legacy' (October 2025), 'Collaborative Agency: A Review of “What They Said” at Circle Contemporary' (April 2025), 'Ritual Contemplation: A Review of Farah Salem at Hyde Park Art Center' (April 2025), and others addressing contemporary exhibitions. At Purdue University Northwest, located in Hammond, PORT 118B, he advises students to connect academic work with internships, residencies, and extracurricular opportunities to build professional skills.
