Joanna Majchrowska serves as Lecturer in Art and Visual Communication in the School of Art and Design, College of Creative Arts, Design and Humanities at Adelaide University. She delivers undergraduate courses centered on foundational and advanced skills in drawing and photography, including VSAR 2049 Life Drawing, GRAP 1019 Introductory Drawing for Design, and GRAP 2024 Commercial and Professional Photography, scheduled for both 2024 and 2025. These courses develop students' proficiency in analogue drawing practices, life drawing techniques, and professional photography applications within art and design contexts.
Majchrowska maintains an active creative practice documented through original works and scholarly output. Her peer-reviewed publication, co-authored with Ron Corso, is 'I Can't Draw. Reflections on drawing and the role of uncertainty and loss as deliberate methodologies to foster creative thinking skills,' appearing in Tracey: Drawing and Visualisation Research, volume 16, issue 1, pages 1-11 (2022). Selected creative works include 'Sottosopra,' a laser cut perspex chandelier with LED lighting exhibited in first showing (2021, co-authored with R. Corso), which earned first prize in the research category of the University of South Australia's Images of Research and Teaching competition; 'My first playground Lublin 1957, Poland' (1 print, 2018); 'Windswept' (digital print, 2016); 'Panel 1, Panel 2, Panel 3' (3 digital prints, 2016); 'Discarded' (oil on canvas, 2010); 'Night merriment' (oil on canvas, 100 x 100 cm, 2009); 'Remains' (2009); 'Dolls play' (2009); and 'Merriment 2' (2008). She also presented 'The Well,' comprising 30 analogue and digital photographs, at Prospect Gallery, Adelaide (2015). Prior to her current role, Majchrowska was a lecturer at UniSA Creative, University of South Australia.
