Josephine Crockett is a registered pharmacist and researcher in the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences within the College of Health at Adelaide University. She brings expertise across diverse practice settings, including community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, the pharmaceutical industry, and academia. Before transitioning to her academic role at what was previously UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences, now part of Adelaide University, Crockett served as Professional Operations Manager with the Pharmacy Board of Australia, SA/NT Branch Director for the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, and senior pharmacist for the Drug and Therapeutics Information Service (DATIS). Additionally, she held positions in the pharmaceutical industry involving marketing, regulatory affairs, and medicines information, complemented by various community and hospital appointments.
In her current capacity, Josephine Crockett instructs students in pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacotherapeutics, and pharmacy practice across programs in pharmacy, nursing, midwifery, and podiatry. As the program manager for the pharmacy intern training program, she implements high-quality curricula and learning strategies that support the professional competencies necessary for registration as a pharmacist in Australia. Her research and academic interests focus on evidence-based teaching and learning to promote competency-based education and professional practice outcomes. Key specialty areas include digital learning, prescribing for allied health professionals, workplace-integrated learning, and legal and ethical practice. Crockett also maintains several advisory appointments with the Australian Pharmacy Council. Her scholarly contributions include co-authoring "Interdisciplinary reflection by higher education academics using teaching squares: A scoping review" published in Nurse Education Today in 2024, "The National Alliance for Pharmacy Education (NAPE): leading pharmacy intern training in Australia" in Pharmacy Education in 2022, as well as "Adults with diabetes: pharmacological management of hypertension" and "Lipid lowering therapy for adults with diabetes" both in Australian Family Physician in 2008. Furthermore, she possesses substantial experience in strategic and business management, governance, and medical writing.
