Kent Wilson holds the position of part-time teaching lecturer in the School of Accounting and Finance, part of the College of Business and Law at Adelaide University. Known for his enthusiastic and energetic approach to teaching, he motivates students to pursue excellence and reach their full potential. His extensive career in higher education spans many years teaching in Australia, complemented by periods living and teaching in both Hong Kong and Singapore. This diverse experience provides him with a profound understanding of the academic and personal challenges faced by both domestic and international students.
Kent Wilson's research focuses on key areas within Asian business, including specific business issues in Hong Kong, the growth and development of the accountancy profession in China, corporate governance mechanisms in Asia, broader global business issues, and the significant connections and dynamics in Asian family businesses. He is recognized in the university's researcher profiles and is eligible to supervise postgraduate students at the Masters and PhD levels as a co-supervisor.
In terms of teaching contributions, Wilson has been involved in delivering specialized courses such as BUSS 2040 Small Business for Professionals in recent years, including 2024 and 2025. He has also served as course coordinator for ACCT 6011 Accounting Industry Project 1 within the School of Accounting and Finance. Previous teaching roles include tutoring and lecturing in advanced undergraduate and postgraduate courses like ACCTFIN 3500 Accounting and Finance Capstone and ACCTFIN 7017 Financial Statement Analysis (M).
Following his return from teaching duties in Singapore in late 2018, Wilson founded Performance Plus Business Services Pty Ltd. This company offers a range of business services, with a particular emphasis on coaching and mentoring programs designed to help small business owners expand and strengthen their operations. He splits his time between university teaching responsibilities and working with business clients.
