Dr. Kevin Howell is a Professor and Program Coordinator of Graphic Communications Management in the Department of Art at Appalachian State University, where he has dedicated nearly three decades to teaching and program leadership. His office is situated in Katherine Harper 136, and he can be reached at 828.262.3114 or via email. Howell earned his Ed.D., MA, and BA, complemented by professional certifications CNE and CNI. He holds BS degrees in Technology and Education, both conferred by Appalachian State University. As a member of the graduate faculty in the College of Fine and Applied Arts until Spring 2017, Howell advises the Epsilon Pi Tau chapter, an international honor society that recognizes academic excellence among students pursuing careers in technology professions and related fields.
Howell's professional expertise includes leadership, course management, and learning management systems. He instructs key courses at the National Training Institute, such as Principles of Learning (Course 10), Designing, Developing, and Delivering Instruction (Course 20), and Discussion Methods (Course 41). His scholarly work features contributions to technology education and organizational studies, notably editing the Institute of Technology Education Journal, volume 9(1) (2021); "Fiedler and Chemers Revisited: Understanding the Implications of the Least Preferred Co-worker Scale" (2018); "Implications of Wrongful Termination Suits in Industrial Facilities" (2018); "Landslide Development Corporation: A Case Study," published in the Journal of the International Academy for Case Studies (2015); and the accompanying "Landslide Development Corporation: A Case Study (Instructor Notes)" (2015). Howell has further demonstrated his commitment to the field by serving as search chair for the Thomas W.
