Dr Lanita Winata serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics within Griffith Business School at Griffith University, having joined the academic staff in 2005. She earned her PhD from Griffith University in 2005 and an MBA from Western Michigan University in the United States. Before entering academia, she held positions as a business partner and branch manager from 1992 to 1999. As a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), she was a full member of CPA Australia from 2005 to 2018. Since 2018, she has been the HDR Accounting Convener at Griffith University. Her professional engagements also include affiliations with the Griffith Asia Institute.
Lanita Winata's research specializations include performance management incorporating culture and managerial behaviour, management operations research, sustainability management, corporate governance, marketing strategy, business strategy, and information technology and communication (ICT). She has authored numerous publications in high-ranking international refereed journals under the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) framework, such as the British Accounting Review, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Accounting and Organisational Change, International Journal of Business Research, and Journal of the Academy of Business and Economics. Key works include "Competitive strategy and sustainable performance with the use of dynamic capabilities and strategy alignment: A study of the hotel industry in Australia" (Sitawati, Winata, & Mia, 2015), "Strategic Alliance, Information and Communication Technology, and Organisational Performance: Evidence from Indonesian Public Listed Companies" (Winata, Mia, & Langmann, 2016), and "Green initiatives and their competitive advantage for the hotel industry in developing countries" (Singjai, Kummer, & Winata, 2018). Her scholarship is evidenced by over 1,700 citations on Google Scholar. In teaching, she convenes courses like Management Accounting and Strategy (7114AFE) and Financial Statements Analysis (7249AFE). She has delivered guest lectures on topics including sustainable practices and performance management at international universities.
