Luci Giannattilio is a Lecturer in the School of Art and Design within the College of Creative Arts, Design and Humanities at Adelaide University. As a communication designer and design educator, she teaches in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Communication Design. Her design and teaching focus is practice-led, with interests encompassing creative methodologies and processes that facilitate idea generation and problem solving. She emphasizes early tertiary level pedagogy within the studio-learning environment, including the alignment of perceptions, practice, and principles. Additionally, Luci Giannattilio promotes design innovation and entrepreneurial qualities for communication design students in professional design practice. Her approach prepares students for real-world challenges by integrating theoretical principles with practical application in dynamic studio settings.
Luci Giannattilio coordinates several core courses in the Communication Design curriculum, including Typography Studio 1 (GRAP 1005), which relates to concepts of graphic and communication design and examines symbols and systems to support reading and viewing; Graphic and Communication Design Studio 2 (GRAP 1006), aligning with the program's goals to develop student skills for designing graphic and communication design outcomes of increasing complexity; and Communication Design Studio 1 (GRAP 1020). Previously, she was Program Director of Communication Design at UniSA Creative, University of South Australia, where she oversaw the program and facilitated collaborations such as student projects developing infographics on technologies preventing hospital falls. Under her guidance, students have achieved recognition, including finalists in the AADC Awards 2025 for projects like Adelaide University branding. Her contributions highlight a sustained commitment to advancing design education and practice.
