Ms Maggie Cribbes is a Lecturer in Visual Effects at the School of Art and Design within the College of Creative Arts, Design and Humanities at Adelaide University. Specializing in post-production and game development, she brings substantial industry experience to her academic role. Maggie studied at Rising Sun Pictures, a prominent Adelaide-based visual effects studio. She then worked as a VFX Editor at MPC, a leading global visual effects company. Subsequently, at Mighty Kingdom, she served as Cinematic Designer, creating captivating cutscenes for games using both 2D and 3D techniques in Unity and Unreal Engine. She also developed 2D rigs in Esoteric Spine. Her technical skills include proficiency in Maya for 3D modeling and animation, Nuke for compositing, DaVinci Resolve for color grading and editing, and the Adobe Creative Suite for various creative production tasks.
In her position at Adelaide University, Ms Cribbes teaches and coordinates a comprehensive suite of courses in visual effects, animation, and related fields. These include Introduction to CGI (COMM 1067 in 2024 and 2025), Digital Compositing (COMM 2094), Visual Effects Professional Practice (COMM 5073), 3D Animation for Visual Effects (GRAP 3022), Assets Animation (GRAP 5007), Creature Animation (GRAP 5008), and Human Animation (GRAP 5009). Additional courses associated with her include Introduction to 3D Tracking (COMP 5010), Plate Preparation Techniques (COMP 5009), Compositing Production Project (COMP 5008), and 3D Animation Project (COMP 5018). Many of these immersive courses are delivered on-site at industry partner Rising Sun Pictures, providing students with direct exposure to professional visual effects workflows and production pipelines. Through her teaching, Ms Cribbes equips students with practical skills essential for careers in the visual effects and game industries.
