Rate My Professor Margaret Storey

Margaret Storey is Professor of History and Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at DePaul University, positions she has held as part of her career since joining the faculty in 2004 following her Ph.D. from Emory University in 1999. She teaches classes on the history of the United States, with a particular focus on antebellum slavery and anti-slavery, the Civil War and Reconstruction, and the Jim Crow era. In her administrative roles, Storey has served as Associate Dean for New Initiatives and contributed to key university programs, including as an ex officio member of the Leadership Team and Steering Committee for the Social Transformation Research Collaborative, a Teacher Scholar in the Civics Initiative, and leadership in the HumanitiesX Experiential Collaborative. Currently, she is a faculty fellow at the DePaul Humanities Center for her project “The Art of War: Cartoons, Caricatures, and Illustrations in the U.S., 1812-1918.” Her leadership has supported initiatives like the $750,000 Mellon Foundation grant to expand experiential humanities programming in 2024.
