Dr. Martin Jarmin serves as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Curtin Medical School, Curtin University. A Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), he is a Trauma and General Surgeon with a full-time consultancy at the State Major Trauma Unit of Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia's exclusive Level 1 Trauma Centre and one of the nation's busiest. In this role, he acts as Deputy Director of Trauma, Director of Clinical Training (Surgical) for the Royal Perth Bentley Group, supervisor of the Surgical Stepdown (Trauma) Unit at Bentley Hospital, and participant in the Acute Surgery Unit roster at Royal Perth Hospital.
Dr. Jarmin's career encompasses broad clinical expertise honed in demanding environments. He previously held a position as Clinical Associate in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Singapore National Heart Centre and completed Trauma Fellowships at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney and John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. His humanitarian contributions include service as a Field Surgeon and War Surgeon for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) and EMERGENCY (Life Support for Civilian War Wounded), delivering care in multiple conflict zones and disaster areas worldwide. As a committed Trauma Educator, he instructs on the Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST/ATLS) course, Definitive Surgical Trauma Care (DSTC) course, and Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness (DMEP) course. His key interests lie in Trauma Surgery, Trauma Education, and Acute/Emergency General Surgery. Professional affiliations include the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Surgery of Trauma (ANZAST) and the World Society for Emergency Surgery (WSES).
