Under Dr. Rosen's leadership, the Department of Radiology has grown substantially, now including more than 90 radiologists, 40 scientists, several preclinical teaching faculty, and dozens of residents and fellows. The department performs approximately 900,000 imaging studies per year, delivering comprehensive diagnostic and interventional radiology services across the UMass Memorial Health system. His research focuses on using eye-tracking to understand why radiologists miss findings on imaging studies and employing natural language processing to improve the accuracy of communications in radiology reports. Notable publications include "COVID-19 Vaccination-Related Uptake on FDG PET/CT: An Emerging Dilemma and Suggestions for Management" (AJR American Journal of Roentgenology, 2021), "ACR Appropriateness Criteria® Right Lower Quadrant Pain--Suspected Appendicitis" (Ultrasound Quarterly, 2015), "Cost analysis of adjunct hypnosis with sedation during outpatient interventional radiologic procedures" (Radiology, 2002), and "Joint replacement surgery in elderly patients with severe osteoarthritis of the hip or knee: decision making, postoperative recovery, and clinical outcomes" (Archives of Internal Medicine, 2008).
