Ms Mei Sim is a Lecturer in Business Analysis in the School of Computer Science and Information Technology, College of Engineering and Information Technology, at Adelaide University. Having joined the University of South Australia in 2006, which has transitioned into Adelaide University, she currently serves as a Lecturer and Course Coordinator in STEM fields, specializing in Project Management for IT Professionals and System Design and Realisation, while also contributing to the development of new courses for Adelaide University. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Computer and Information Science from the University of South Australia, a Diploma of Business (Accounting) from the South Australia Institute of TAFE, a Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) from the Australia and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, and a Professional Certificate in University Teaching from the University of South Australia.
Mei Sim's research interests focus on information systems education, information systems user experience design and development, project management, and requirements engineering. She has designed, developed, coordinated, and taught numerous undergraduate and postgraduate courses across various delivery modes and institutions, including UniSA, UniSA Online, Eynesbury College, SAIBT, and An De College. Her teaching approach emphasizes transdisciplinary, scaffolded, and contextualised learning to build inclusive teamwork, collaboration skills, and global competencies, particularly for first-year, transition, and second-year students. In 2013, she received Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning from the Australian Federal Government’s Office for Learning and Teaching and the University of South Australia for developing inclusive teamwork in engineering and ICT. Sim serves on the organising committee for the 2025 ASCILITE conference, is a member of the UniSA Higher Education Research Network and HERDSA SoLT, and has co-authored recent conference presentations including “Developing a values-based ethics learning tool” at ASCILITE 2025, “Creating an online values-based ethics education learning tool” at the UniSA Teaching and Learning Symposium 2025, and “Towards a Value Sensitive Design (VSD) based learning tool” at the ETHICOMP Conference.
