About Mikhail

Mikhail Revtovich, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Associate Professor, serves as Vice-Rector for Research at Belarusian State Medical University. Born in Minsk in 1974, he graduated with a medical degree from Minsk State Medical Institute (now BSMU) in 1998. He underwent clinical residency in surgery (1999-2001) and postgraduate training (2001-2004) at BSMU's Departments of Surgical Diseases, earning his Candidate of Medical Sciences degree in 2004 for his dissertation on inhibitors of cytokine production and lipid peroxidation in acute pancreatitis treatment. In 2019, he obtained his Doctor of Medical Sciences degree with a dissertation on complex treatment of locally advanced gastric cancer.

Revtovich's career includes roles as assistant professor at BSMU (2004-2007), researcher and thoracic surgeon at N.N. Alexandrov National Cancer Center (2007 onwards), professor at Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education's Oncology Department (2021-2023), and currently Associate Professor at BSMU's Oncology Department with advanced training courses. He has performed over 2,000 complex operations and holds the highest qualification as an oncologic surgeon. His research specializes in multimodal therapies for gastric and pancreaticoduodenal cancers, including hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). With over 300 publications in international journals like European Journal of Surgical Oncology, two monographs published in 2022—"Complex Treatment of Locally Advanced Gastric Cancer" and "Locally Advanced Gastric Cancer: Modern Directions of Radical Treatment and Prediction of Long-Term Results" (co-authored)—he holds 18 Belarusian patents, one Eurasian patent, and has contributed to national clinical protocols. Revtovich has received international training in the UK and Germany and presented at global conferences. Awards include the "Honorary Worker of Healthcare of the Republic of Belarus" badge (2020) and multiple honorary diplomas.
