About Sergei

Professor Sergei Rubnikovich is the Rector of Belarusian State Medical University. A Doctor of Medical Sciences and Professor, he holds the title of Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Born in the Sharkovshchyna district of Vitebsk region, he graduated from the Dental Faculty of Minsk State Medical Institute in 1996 and completed clinical residency in orthopedic dentistry at the Department of Orthopedic Dentistry of the Belarusian Medical Academy of Post-Graduate Education in 1998. In 2002, he defended his candidate's dissertation on the selection of post-core inlays and pins for teeth considering root canal wall integrity (experimental-clinical study). His 2011 doctoral dissertation addressed laser-optical diagnostics of periodontal diseases and justification of treatment methods (experimental-clinical study). He was awarded the academic title of professor in 2015.

Rubnikovich's career trajectory includes serving as Assistant since 1998 and Associate Professor since 2004 at the Department of Orthopedic Dentistry, Belarusian State Medical University, and as Head of the Department of Orthopedic Stomatology and Orthodontics with a course in Pediatric Dentistry at the Belarusian Medical Academy of Post-Graduate Education from April 2013 to September 2020. His research specializations include orthopedic dentistry, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, laser-optical diagnostics and treatment of periodontal diseases, cellular technologies in dentistry such as mesenchymal stem cells for gum recession treatment, and development of dental equipment like the low-frequency ultrasonic apparatus DENT-35 and an intraoral device for preventing snoring and sleep apnea. He has authored more than 450 scientific works, including 7 monographs, 35 textbooks, 300 articles in leading journals, 21 instructions approved by the Ministry of Health, and holds 20 patents for inventions. Rubnikovich received a Diploma of the II degree with silver medal in 2019 and a Diploma of the I degree with gold medal in 2020 at the international competition Best Innovative Project and Best Scientific-Technical Development of the Year in St. Petersburg for his medical innovations. He chairs the subcommission of the Republican Qualification Commission of the Ministry of Health for dentists, is a full member of the International Academy of Dentists, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Stomatologiya. Estetika. Innovatsii, serves on editorial boards of several journals, supervises graduate students and clinical residents under whose guidance 4 candidate dissertations were defended, chairs dissertation councils, and has organized 6 international congresses, 10 international conferences, and numerous seminars and master classes. Over 250 of his developments have been implemented in practical healthcare and education.
