Professor Patrick Chau serves as Provost and Chair Professor in Information Systems and Business Analytics at Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU), within the Business & Economics domain. He spent nearly two decades at The University of Hong Kong, holding positions such as Director of the School of Business, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, and Padma and Hari Harilela Professor in Strategic Information Management. Additionally, he served as Qiushi Chair Professor at Zhejiang University and was awarded the Chang Jiang Scholars Programme Chair Professorship by the Ministry of Education in 2010.

In recognition of his contributions, Professor Chau was elected President of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) in 2021-2022, becoming the first Chinese scholar to lead the organization since its inception in 1994. He received the AIS Fellow Award in 2013 and the prestigious AIS LEO Award in 2025, a lifetime achievement accolade.
