Patrick Grabowski, PT, PhD, OCS, CSCS, is a Professor in the Department of Health Professions at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where he has served as Graduate Program Director for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program since 2013. His career in physical therapy spans over two decades, including clinical positions at UW Hospitals and Clinics Sports Rehabilitation in Madison, Wisconsin from 2008 to 2013, and Vail Sports Medicine Physical Therapy in Vail, Colorado from 2004 to 2008. Grabowski earned his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012, Master of Physical Therapy from Marquette University in 2004, and Bachelor of Science from Marquette University in 2002.
Grabowski's academic interests and research specializations focus on motor behavior, orthopedics, motor control, and biomechanics. He teaches courses in motor control and learning, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, and research methods, and has acted as principal investigator on multiple musculoskeletal rehabilitation studies. He has published peer-reviewed articles such as 'Multimodal impairment-based physical therapy for the management of a patient with chronic low back pain and a history of lumbar microdiscectomy surgery: a case report' (2017), 'Reliability, Responsiveness, and Criterion Validity of the Kiio Posture Evaluation' (2017), 'Evidence of generalized muscle stiffness in the presence of reduced muscle strength in individuals with unilateral patellofemoral pain' (2018), 'Deficits in Dynamic Balance and Hop Performance Following Concussion' (2022), and 'Inter-limb kinetic asymmetries during sit-to-stand performance in individuals following ACL reconstruction' (2023). Additionally, Grabowski has presented research nationally, including six projects at the American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting, mentored Doctor of Physical Therapy students on presentations, lectured nationally and internationally, and contributed to the La Crosse Institute for Movement Science while collaborating on rehabilitation technology development.
