Dr. R. Gunasekaran is a Professor in the Department of Computer Technology within the Engineering faculty at Anna University, Chennai. He earned his B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Madras in 2001, M.E. from Bharathiar University in 2002, Ph.D. from Anna University in 2010, and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the University of California, Davis, USA in 2015. As Principal Investigator of the Next Generation Networks Laboratory (NGNLab), established in 2012, and the 6G Ubiquitous Connectivity Lab, he leads multidisciplinary projects funded by over ₹425 lakhs from DST, DoT, Erasmus+, DAAD, and others, fostering collaborations with institutions such as Nanyang Technological University, University of Auckland, Trinity College Dublin, and Samsung Research India. A Senior Member of IEEE and ACM, he has supervised 8 Ph.D. theses and is guiding 5 more, authored 214 publications including 86 journal articles, accumulating 2292 citations and an h-index of 28. His contributions include organizing international conferences (ICoAC 2017-2019) and workshops (STSH 2024 with Queen’s University Belfast), serving as reviewer for IEEE, ACM, Elsevier, and Springer, and International External Advisor for Universiti Teknologi Petronas.
