Robert Harger is the Director of General Education and Professor of Mathematical Sciences at High Point University. He holds positions within the Department of Mathematical Sciences and serves as Head of the Mathematics Department in the Webb School of Engineering. His office is in Couch Hall 312. Harger chairs the Executive Committee of the University and oversees the Departmental Colloquia Series. He has previously served as Chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, as listed in the High Point University Undergraduate Bulletin for 2011-2012.
Harger earned a B.S. from Appalachian State University, an M.A. from Wake Forest University, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from North Carolina State University in 1996. His doctoral advisor was Kailash C. Misra, and his dissertation is titled "Realization of level two integrable highest weight representations of the affine Lie algebra A_7^{(2)}". His research interests are Lie Algebras, Combinatorics, and Number Theory. Harger teaches courses including HNR 1300-02: Mathbusters in the Honors Scholar Program, focusing on quantitative reasoning.
