Dr. Scott W. Goodspeed, MHA, DHA, FACHE, is Professor of Medical Sciences and Founding Director of the Master of Healthcare Administration Program at High Point University in the Department of Medical Sciences. He earned a Master of Hospital Administration from the University of Minnesota and a Doctorate in Health Administration and Leadership from the Medical University of South Carolina. A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Dr. Goodspeed brings extensive executive experience to his academic role, having served as President and Chief Executive Officer of four hospitals across three states. His career also encompasses consulting with healthcare organizations throughout the United States, where he has developed a national reputation in governance.
Prior to joining High Point University, Dr. Goodspeed was Program Director of the Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership and Professor of the Practice in Health Services, Policy, and Practice at Brown University School of Public Health. He is the author of the book 'Community Stewardship: Applying the Five Principles of Contemporary Governance,' published by American Hospital Publishing. As a nationally recognized speaker, Dr. Goodspeed has authored and delivered over 500 presentations to professional associations and healthcare organizations on topics such as strategic planning, health industry trends, 21st century governance, and constructive cultures. In 2021, he received the American College of Healthcare Executives Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Award for significant contributions to ACHE and the field of healthcare leadership. Recently, Dr. Goodspeed was appointed to the CAHME Board, further underscoring his influence in healthcare education and administration.
