Dr Rose Boucaut is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Allied Health and Human Performance, College of Health, at Adelaide University. She is a Fellow of the Australian College of Physiotherapists with a distinguished career in occupational health and safety within physiotherapy. Her academic background includes a Doctor of Education from Flinders University, a Master of Public Health from the University of Adelaide, a Graduate Diploma in Advanced Manipulative Therapy from the South Australian Institute of Technology, and a Diploma of Applied Science (Technical) in Physiotherapy from the South Australian Institute of Technology.
Boucaut's research focuses on environmental and occupational health, physiotherapy, safety culture, workplace bullying, and injury prevention. She has contributed extensively to the literature through peer-reviewed publications. Notable works include Leungbootnak et al. (2026), 'Normative data for the balance error scoring system for patients with chronic neck pain,' published in the Brazilian Journal of Physical Therapy; Bunphrom et al. (2025), 'Diaphragm excursion and thickness in patients with chronic low back pain with and without lumbar instability,' in Scientific Reports; Law et al. In her career, Boucaut has coordinated the final-year Bachelor of Physiotherapy course 'Work Health and Safety Practice' at the University of South Australia, Allied Health and Human Performance. Since 2011, she has served as Health and Safety Officer for the School of Nursing at the University of Adelaide. In 2018, she was awarded the Australian Endeavour Executive Fellowship, enabling collaborations in Scandinavia and Thailand to establish a World Confederation for Physical Therapy subgroup on work health and safety. She is eligible to supervise Masters and PhD students as co-supervisor. Her scholarship influences physiotherapy education, practice, and policy in occupational health settings, promoting injury prevention and safe workplaces.
