Rumpa Dasgupta is a Lecturer in Cybersecurity in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology at La Trobe University. She obtained her PhD in 2024 from the Department of Software Systems and Cybersecurity at Monash University, Australia, with a thesis centered on cyber attacks in transactive energy market-based microgrid systems. She holds a Master's degree in Computer Engineering, focusing on wireless and mobile sensor networks. Possessing over seven years of combined academic and industry experience in cybersecurity, computer systems, and networks, Dasgupta actively engages in teaching and cutting-edge research.
Dasgupta's primary research specializations encompass cybersecurity for cyber-physical systems, human-centric cybersecurity, and smart grid security. Her influential publications include 'Cyber Attacks in Transactive Energy Market-Based Microgrid Systems' (Energies, 2021; 37 citations), which identifies key cyber threats in energy trading environments; 'Improving Cybersecurity Situational Awareness in Smart Grid Environments' (2023; 14 citations); 'Unlocking Australia’s AI Usage in Law Enforcement from Human Involvement Perspective: A Systematic Literature Review' (2025; 9 citations); 'Impact Analysis of False Data Injection Attacks in Transactive Energy Market-Based Micro-Grid Systems' (2021; 8 citations); and 'Energy-Efficient Deadline-Aware Data-Gathering Scheme Using Multiple Mobile Data Collectors' (2017; 24 citations). Collectively, her research has amassed over 105 citations on Google Scholar, underscoring her impact in analyzing vulnerabilities and enhancing defenses in critical infrastructure. She also served as a Visiting Teaching Fellow in the STEM area at the University of South Australia in Adelaide from 18 November 2024 to 2 March 2025 and supports the Cybersecurity Club at La Trobe University.
