Dr. Sarah Seekamp is a lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the University of South Australia, now part of Adelaide University following the institutional merger. She completed her PhD in July 2024 at the Australian Centre for Child Protection, with principal supervisor Associate Professor Lesley-Anne Ey and co-supervisor Dr. Margarita Tsiros. Her doctoral research, titled 'Exploring Collaborative Practice and Shared Goals for Families Known to Child Protection,' focused on interprofessional collaboration and family involvement in child welfare services. Seekamp's academic interests center on interprofessional practices in child protection, child development and school readiness, and mental health promotion through parent-child play. Earlier work examined rural health interventions, including previously inactive rural adults' experiences of commencing and maintaining walking routines following participation in a walking intervention, published in the Australian Journal of Rural Health in 2016.
Seekamp has contributed key publications to her field, including 'Partnering with families known to child protection in an interprofessional context' in Child Abuse & Neglect in 2023, which garnered 16 citations, and 'Service delivery goals and underlying interprofessional practices: A scoping review to support interprofessional collaboration in the field of child protection' in Children and Youth Services Review in 2022, with 15 citations. Other works include 'Exploring South Australian trends in pre-schoolers’ development and school readiness from preschool directors’ perspectives' in The Allied Health Scholar in 2022 and 'Participation of parents known to child protection in service responses: experiences of parents in an interprofessional context' in Children and Youth Services Review in 2026. She presented 'Human-centred service delivery: The key to interdisciplinary practice' at the Australian Centre for Child Protection's 20th Birthday Symposium in October 2024 and delivered a webinar on 'Parent-child play: A mental health promotion strategy for all children' in 2019. Seekamp serves as a trained peer reviewer of teaching in occupational therapy at her institution, contributing to academic development.
