Scott Raynor serves as professor and chair of the Art and Graphic Design Department within High Point University's School of Art and Design, a position he has held since joining the institution in 2005. He established the university's first Mac Lab and introduced its inaugural digital art courses, laying foundational infrastructure for modern art education. Renowned for his artistic prowess, Scott Raynor maintains a distinguished national and international exhibition record. In the 13 years prior to 2020, he presented four solo exhibitions in locations ranging from Texas and North Carolina to Italy, complemented by participation in 22 juried, invitational, and group shows throughout the United States. His paintings, characterized by intricate layers of color and symbolism, have been featured internationally in Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and China. Raynor integrates his studio practice with pedagogy, drawing inspiration from student interactions and incorporating their feedback to refine his work, embodying a 'guide on the side' teaching philosophy. This synergy has empowered numerous students to secure awards and recognition for their artistic achievements. In acknowledgment of his outstanding contributions to research and creative endeavors, Raynor received High Point University's Ruth Ridenhour Scholarly and Professional Achievement Award in 2020, underscoring his enduring impact on the academic art community.
