Sheree Agett is a Lecturer in Midwifery in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, College of Health, at Adelaide University. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing obtained from the University of South Australia in regional South Australia, where she cultivated a passion for supporting midwifery education in rural and remote communities. Advancing her professional qualifications, she completed a Master of Midwifery while traveling and working across diverse clinical settings. In her present position, previously at UniSA prior to the formation of Adelaide University, Sheree leads the Horizon Hospital & Health Service (HHHS) Midwifery Workshops, delivering targeted professional development to midwives in regional South Australia.
Sheree has committed many years to research on maternal health spanning the perinatal spectrum and serves as a staunch advocate for continuity of midwifery care, actively promoting and practicing this model for over a decade. Prior to her academic appointment, she managed the clinical design and implementation of the Maternity and Neonatal components of the Electronic Medical Record system, optimizing clinical processes and data integration in maternity services. Her research involvement underscores a dedication to evidence-based improvements in perinatal care.
Sheree's teaching encompasses a broad spectrum of midwifery courses integral to programs such as the Bachelor of Midwifery, Graduate Certificate in Midwifery, and Master of Midwifery. These include Evidence Based Midwifery (NURS 1074), Primary Midwifery Practice (NURS 1075), Complex Care of the Neonate (NURS 2038), Complex Care of the Woman (NURS 2042), Becoming a Midwife (NURS 3047), Women's Health Across the Lifespan (NURS 3057), Healthy Mothers and Babies (NURS 1059), and Introduction to High Acuity Nursing and Midwifery (NURS 5172), along with various practicum and foundational courses. Her teaching expertise highlights continuity of care, evidence-based midwifery practice, and clinical skill enhancement.
Sheree Agett contributed as a research midwife to the randomised controlled trial 'Oral misoprostol for induction of labour at term' published in 2006, managing recruitment and treatment pack preparation. She also participated in the protocol for the Cochrane review 'Relief of pain due to uterine cramping/involution after birth'.
