Dr. Vincent Singh Paramanandam serves as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Australian Lymphoedema Education, Research and Treatment (ALERT) Centre in the Department of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences at Macquarie University. He earned his PhD from the University of Sydney's Faculty of Medicine and Health between 2017 and 2021, supported by the University of Sydney International Strategic Scholarship. His academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), Master of Science in Psychology (MSc Psych), Master of Physiotherapy (MPT), and Master of Science in Cancer Care (MSc Cancer Care). With over 20 years of clinical experience as a physiotherapist at Tata Memorial Hospital, he transitioned to academia as a physiotherapy lecturer at the University of Sydney prior to his current role at Macquarie University. Additionally, he provides casual research support at the University of Melbourne since February 2022. His postdoctoral fellowship is co-funded by Macquarie University and ImpediMed Limited. Paramanandam has completed Macquarie University supervision training, enabling him to supervise Master of Research (MRes) and PhD students.
Paramanandam's research focuses on breast cancer-related lymphoedema (BCRL), lower limb lymphoedema, lipoedema, quality of life in lymphoedema patients, exercise recommendations for lymphoedema, bioimpedance spectroscopy for lymphoedema and lipedema assessment, menopause-related symptoms, prehabilitation in cancer care, and rehabilitation following cancer treatments. His expertise spans lymphoedema assessment and management, bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS), patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), cross-cultural adaptation of symptom indices, exercise interventions, and quality of life tools for lymphoedema. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications advancing these areas. Key works include 'Cross-Cultural Adaptation of the Breast Cancer and Lymphoedema Symptom Experience Index (BCLE-SEI) in Marathi' (2025), 'Translation and Validation of the BCLE-SEI in Bengali' (2025), 'Reaching Consensus on Exercise Recommendations for Individuals Living with Lower Limb Lymphoedema: A Delphi Study' (2025), 'Improving Precision of Bioimpedance Spectroscopic Analysis for Lymphedema and Lipedema Assessment' (2025), 'Reliability of L-Dex Scores for Assessment of Unilateral Breast Cancer-Related Lymphedema' (2024), 'Self-Reported Questionnaires for Lymphoedema: A Systematic Review of Measurement Properties Using COSMIN Framework' (2021), and 'Prophylactic Use of Compression Sleeves Reduces the Incidence of Arm Swelling in Women at High Risk of Breast Cancer–Related Lymphedema: A Randomized Controlled Trial' (2022). These contributions enhance clinical assessment tools, validation across cultures, and evidence-based exercise guidelines in oncology physiotherapy.
