Skye Cluse is a Lecturer in Nursing in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, College of Health, at Adelaide University. Previously a lecturer in Nursing within the Clinical & Health Sciences at the University of South Australia, she holds a Bachelor of Nursing and a Graduate Diploma in Nursing Science (Emergency Nursing) from UniSA. Cluse commenced her nursing career in paediatric nursing before pursuing a path in critical care nursing. She has worked the last eight years in a public emergency department in Adelaide, where she has undertaken clinical and education roles and spent time within the Infection Prevention and Control Service. Additionally, she has extensive experience as a Medical Emergency Team (MET) nurse. Her expertise spans paediatric nursing, critical care nursing, emergency nursing, infection prevention and control, and MET nursing.
Cluse demonstrates a strong passion for the management and response to clinical deterioration, having dedicated significant time as a MET nurse, and is currently undertaking research into the confidence of nurses in managing clinical deterioration events. In her teaching role, she contributes to undergraduate nursing education through courses such as NURS 1072 Foundations of Nursing Practice (2025), NURS 2022 Health of Infants, Children and Adolescents (2025 and 2024), NURS 2023 Health of Adults (2024), NURS 2033 Experiential Learning Activity: Acute Care Practicum 3 (2025), and NURS 1061 Experiential Learning Activity: Preparation for Clinical Practice Practicum 1 (2024). She is also a co-author of the article "Empathy development for nursing older Australians, introducing Agnes Jenkins," published in the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Journal (July–September 2024).
