Dr Tarikul Islam serves as a Lecturer in International Business within the School of Management, College of Business and Law at Adelaide University. He earned his PhD in International Business Strategy from Deakin University and an MSc from the University of Hull. His research specializations encompass the internationalisation of emerging economy firms via global value chains (GVCs), governance of cross-border buyer-supplier relationships, GVCs amid digitalisation and the circular economy, as well as organisational resilience, sustainability, and innovation. Islam's academic career includes prior roles as Lecturer in International Business at the University of South Australia (2024-2025), Senior Lecturer at Torrens University Australia (2020-2024), and Lecturer at Torrens University Australia (2019-2020). He began his professional journey as a Marketing Executive at Tally India Private Ltd. in 2006. He is eligible to supervise Masters and PhD students and holds memberships in the Academy of Management, Academy of International Business, and ANZIBA & AIB Oceania.
Islam has received several awards for his research and teaching excellence, including the 2025 AIB Insights Award for Actionable International Business Research from the Academy of International Business, the 2024 Teaching Excellence Award from the University of South Australia, the 2020 Excellence in Learning and Teaching Award and 2019 Early Career Research Excellence Award from Torrens University Australia, and the 2017 Early Career Research Grant from the National University of Singapore.
