Ms Therese Lovett serves as a Lecturer in the School of Education within the College of Education, Behavioural and Social Sciences at Adelaide University. Previously, she was a tutor and PhD candidate in Education Futures at the University of South Australia. Lovett teaches English core and specialist courses to pre-service teachers enrolled in the Bachelor of Education and Masters of Teaching programs. Her teaching portfolio includes EDUC 2058 English Curriculum: Reading, offered in 2024 and 2025; EDUC 2074 Literature and Digital Media, taught in 2024 and 2025; EDUC 3062 English Curriculum: Text Production, delivered in 2024 and 2025; and EDUC 5260 English Education (Primary) in 2024. These courses focus on developing pedagogical skills in reading, literature, digital media, text production, and primary English education.
Lovett's research interests center on digital play, language and literacies, social semiotics, multimodality and multiliteracies, and children's meaning-making resources. She contributes to the research project Digital Literacy Champions: Exemplary Practice for 21st Century Teaching. A key publication co-authored by Lovett is Colton, J., Serafini, F., Lovett, T., Forrest, S., Gale, J., Gehling, K., Carter, J. (2023). Readers matter: seven transactions with the visual, linguistic and material elements in a picture book. Australian Journal of Language and Literacy, 46(3), 219-231. She expresses enthusiasm for research, supporting pre-service teachers, and collaborative learning. Her work supports the preparation of educators for contemporary literacy challenges.
