Dr Thilini Jayawickrama is the Program Director for Optimisation and Stabilisation in the Integration Management Office at Adelaide University. In the School of Civil Engineering and Construction Management, she coordinates undergraduate courses including Construction Cost Planning (BLDG 2018), Quantity Surveying Fundamentals and Cost Estimating (BLDG 2003), Industry Experience (BLDG 4023), and Construction Science and Materials (ARCH 1009). Previously, she served as Senior Lecturer at the University of South Australia. She holds a BSc (Honours) in Quantity Surveying from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, and a PhD from the National University of Singapore, where her doctoral research developed a conceptual framework for environmental rating systems for infrastructure projects in Sri Lanka, applied to small hydropower projects.
Dr Jayawickrama's research focuses on sustainable construction, quantity surveying education, total quality management in design and build projects, immersive virtual reality in online learning, carbon pricing for emissions reduction in sectors like apparel, electric vehicle infrastructure, and factors influencing host community acceptance for post-disaster resettlements. Key publications include 'Opportunities overcome challenges in adopting immersive virtual reality in online learning' (Computers and Education Open, 2024, with R. Abadia et al.); 'The adaptability of sustainability education in quantity surveying degree programs in Sri Lanka: the industry perception' (International Journal of Construction Education and Research, 2023, with V.G. Shanika and B.A.K.S. Perera); 'Use of total quality management to enhance the quality of design and build projects' (Intelligent Buildings International, 2022, with D. Rajaratnam and B.A.K.S. Perera); 'Factors influencing acceptance or rejection regarding being the host community for post-disaster resettlements in developing countries' (International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, 2021, with D. Geekiyanage et al.); and the co-authored book 'Building Cost Planning: Best Practices and Insights' (2024). She received the Innovation Award at the Adelaide University Teaching and Learning Awards 2025 for a collaborative teaching innovation project with colleagues from UniSA STEM and University Library.
