Tiffany Owens is a Ph.D. candidate in Management and Leadership at the C. T. Bauer College of Business, University of Houston, where she serves as a research assistant in the Department of Management. She instructs undergraduate courses, including MANA 3335, and is recognized by students for her responsiveness to inquiries and supportive office hours.
Owens's research examines organizational behavior, leadership, diversity, equity, and inclusion in professional settings, with emphasis on topics such as relational demography, gender barriers, racial dynamics in leadership appointments, and diversity conceptualizations. Key contributions include co-authoring with Curtis Wesley the paper “A Human and Social Capital Perspective on Institutional Owner Reactions to Black CEO Appointments,” awarded Best Paper at the 2024 Academy of Management Conference and under consideration for the Gender & Diversity in Organizations division best paper. Her other works feature “Gender at Work: Barriers, Opportunities, and Outcomes” (2025), “Meta-analytic review of relational demography” presented at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology Annual Conference (2024, Chicago), “Does the Diversity of Diversities Matter? The Impact of Separation and Disparity” at SIOP (2023, Boston), and “On The Elements of Diversity: Definitions and New Considerations” (2023). Owens collaborates with scholars including Enrica Ruggs, Derek Avery, Horatio Traylor, and Dave Sullivan on investigations into gendered language in feedback and workplace identity. She contributes to symposia planning, such as the AOM 2025 event on Gender at Work, advancing discourse on inclusive management practices.
