Tiffany Roman is an Associate Professor of Instructional Technology in the School of Instructional Technology and Innovation at Kennesaw State University’s Bagwell College of Education, where she serves as Ed.S. Program Coordinator. Prior to academia, she taught as a K-12 educator, including 5th grade self-contained classes and 7-12th grade art and design in Dallas, Texas. Roman earned her Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University Bloomington in July 2018, Master of Education in May 2004, and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design in May 2002, both from the University of Notre Dame. Her scholarship focuses on student engagement within STEM and active learning environments, design and development of learning technologies, design education, and teacher professional development in trauma-informed teaching practices and social justice.
Roman has received numerous awards and grants, including selection for the NSF-sponsored Learning Analytics in STEM Education Research (LASER) Institute (2021), NSF Quantitative Research Methods Program completion, AECT Research and Theory Division Young Researcher Award (2021, $500), AECT Research and Theory Division’s Outstanding Reviewer Award (2024), KSU Bagwell College of Education Early Career Award (2022-2023, $1,000), KSU Bagwell College of Education Outstanding Junior Scholar Research Award (2021-2022, $1,000), Michael Pressley Award for Promising Educational Researcher (2020, $1,000), and “Top Researcher” recognition (2025). Grants include Steelcase Active Learning Center Grant ($67,000, 2019), KSU Interdisciplinary Initiatives Seed Grant ($10,000, 2024-2025), and KSU Office of Research Creativity Grant ($5,000, Spring 2026). Her peer-reviewed publications feature in TechTrends, Journal of Technology and Teacher Education, Educational Technology Research & Development, and Computers & Education.
