Mr Toivo Kim Tuovinen serves as Academic Program Support Officer and Lecturer in Education at Charles Sturt University within the Faculty of Arts and Education. He holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Sydney, a Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) from Charles Sturt University, and a Graduate Diploma in Archaeology from Flinders University. Before joining the university, he worked as an experienced secondary school teacher, delivering instruction in Ancient History, History, Geography, English, Business Studies, and PDHPE at public and independent schools across New South Wales, Tasmania, and Victoria. He has additional professional experience as a commercial archaeologist in environmental heritage management in New South Wales and as a volunteer archaeologist in the United Kingdom.
Mr Tuovinen focuses on Humanities and Social Sciences teacher education in primary and secondary schools. His academic interests include Celtic, Classical, and Australian archaeology, particularly community and educational engagement in the heritage sector. He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland. He divides his time between Adelaide, South Australia, and Carmarthenshire, Wales.
