Dr. Tom Conley serves as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Government and International Relations within Griffith Business School at Griffith University. He holds a PhD from the University of Adelaide in politics and political economy. A long-standing member of the Griffith Asia Institute since 2003, Conley coordinates the Government and International Relations Study Mentoring Program. His teaching portfolio includes courses such as Global Political Economy (1003GIR) and Australia's Foreign Relations (3012GIR), with a focus on political economy, international relations, and Australian foreign policy.
Conley's research specializations center on political economy, globalisation, international political economy, Australian trade policy, and foreign policy. He has authored over 40 book chapters, journal articles, and reviews, particularly in the decade leading up to 2010, contributing significantly to debates on economic globalisation's impact on Australia. Key publications include his award-winning monograph The Vulnerable Country: Australia and the Global Economy (UNSW Press, 2009), recipient of the 2009 David Harold Tribe Philosophy Award, and the co-edited volume Foreign Policy Challenges in the 21st Century (2009) with Michael Heazle and Martin Griffiths.
