Dr Uche Ijeneme, full name Uchechukwu Ijeneme, holds qualifications including MBBCh from the University of Calabar in Nigeria, MRCOG, FACOG, and FRANZCOG. His professional journey in obstetrics and gynaecology commenced in Nigeria as a medical officer at the Catholic Mission Hospital. He began residency training in the specialty in May 2006. In 2008, he relocated to the United Kingdom to continue his specialist training, culminating in the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2019. Upon arriving in Australia in October 2019, he took up his current role as Consultant Obstetrician at Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch, Western Australia.
Dr Ijeneme actively contributes to the field through leadership roles, serving as a Councillor for Western Australia at the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). He emphasizes collective responsibility for positive change, member engagement, and advocacy for women's health issues, training opportunities, and global health initiatives. His research interests include maternal health outcomes, with publications such as 'Presentation and outcome of eclampsia at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital,' contributions to studies on molar pregnancies in Nigerian teaching hospitals, and carcinoma of the ovary in a Nigerian tertiary hospital. These works have garnered citations and reflect his early career focus during his time in Nigeria.
