Dr. Udara Ranasinghe Ranawalage serves as a Lecturer in Construction and Project Management in the School of Civil Engineering and Construction at Adelaide University, part of the College of Engineering and Information Technology. She earned her BSc (Honours) in Facilities Management from the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka and completed her PhD in Building at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Her professional journey encompasses a Lectureship in the Department of Building Economics at the University of Moratuwa, followed by roles as a Research Assistant and Tutor at the University of Newcastle. Prior to her current position, she held a lecturing role at the University of South Australia.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Ranasinghe Ranawalage has taught various subjects in construction and project management, including project risk management, sustainability in construction, building surveying, project governance and ethics, and industry experience. Her research focuses on workplace health and safety, risk management, and resilience engineering, particularly in construction refurbishment projects, alongside sustainability in the built environment such as sustainable materials and energy management. Select key publications are: "Work-related factors affecting mental well-being of young construction workers in South Australia" (Tennakoon et al., 2025, Built Environment Project and Asset Management); "Analysis of safety and well-being factors related to the ageing construction workforce" (Tang et al., 2025); "A systematic review on workplace health and safety of ageing construction workers" (Ranasinghe et al., 2023, Safety Science, 35 Scopus citations); "Enabling a resilient work environment: an analysis of causal relationships between resilience engineering factors in construction refurbishment projects" (Ranasinghe et al., 2023, Journal of Construction Engineering and Management); "Resilience engineering indicators and safety management: a systematic review" (Ranasinghe et al., 2020, Safety and Health at Work, 70 Scopus citations). She received the Association for Project Management Early Careers Research Grant in 2025 for developing breakthrough project management competencies aligned with UN SDGs. Dr. Ranasinghe Ranawalage is eligible to co-supervise postgraduate research students and currently supports PhD candidates investigating sustainable off-site construction and gender equality in construction through human-centric digital transformation.
