Rate My Professor Wai Lim

His research focuses on epidemiology and kidney transplantation to improve allocation and health outcomes; immunology profiles and transplant outcomes for personalised risk scoring; and epidemiology and clinical nephrology examining nutrition impacts, biomarkers, and cardiovascular disease in chronic kidney disease and transplant patients. Key areas include kidney transplantation, chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, transplant immunology, and cancer. He has received over $12 million in funding, including six NHMRC grants and two Career Development Fellowships. His internationally recognised transplantation research informs clinical decisions, donor kidney allocation policies, and chronic kidney disease patient selection. He co-leads a Western Australian Indigenous taskforce engaging leaders to enhance kidney transplant education and access for Indigenous Australians. Professor Lim has held roles such as member of the National Renal Transplant Advisory Committee, Co-Chair of the TSANZ Scientific Program and Education Committee, Chair of the Scientific Review Ethics Subcommittee at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and editorial positions including Associate Editor for Transplant International, Nephrology, and Frontiers in Immunology. Awards include the 2017 Kidney Health Australia Finalist Award, 2016 Mark Cocks Award and Kidney Health Australia Best Clinical Science Award from TSANZ, and earlier recognitions from 2015, 2013, and 2005.
