Dr Yousef Amer serves as Senior Lecturer, Program Director, Graduate Research Coordinator, Academic Integrity Officer, and Summative Peer Review of Teaching reviewer in the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering within the College of Engineering and Information Technology at Adelaide University. He earned his PhD from the University of South Australia in 2009, Master's degree in 2005, Bachelor's degree in 1994 from the same institution, and Graduate Certificates in 2009 and 2011. His career spans over two decades in academia and industry, including Senior Lecturer and Program Director at the University of South Australia from 2011 to 2022, Lecturer from 2006 to 2011, Mechanical Design Engineer at Ion Automotive from 2003 to 2005, and mechanical design roles in automotive manufacturing from 1993 to 2003.
Dr Amer is recognized for contributions to mechanical and industrial engineering, focusing on advanced analytics and artificial intelligence in complex engineering and supply chain systems. His research interests encompass artificial intelligence, business process management, design innovation, environmentally sustainable engineering, life cycle assessment, machine learning, manufacturing engineering, operations research, optimisation, production management, supply chains, sustainable design, and systems engineering. He has published over 120 peer-reviewed scholarly works, including 'A digital twin-based framework for predictive quality assurance and supply chain resilience in the automotive industry' (2026, Advanced Engineering Informatics), 'AI-Driven Circular Manufacturing Framework for Predictive Material Flow Optimisation' (2026, Intelligent Systems with Applications), and 'Evaluating classical time-series models ARIMA, SARIMA, ARIMAX, and VAR for wave height forecasting' (2026, Ocean Engineering). Dr Amer has supervised more than 20 PhD candidates to completion and holds editorial board memberships with the IEEE Systems Journal (since 2021), International Journal of Production Economics (since 2019), and others. Awards include Academic Excellence: Teacher (2018, University of South Australia), Provost and Chief Academic Officer Commendation (2016), and grants such as Adapting to the Carbon Economy (2020, UAE Government). He serves on the Summative Peer Review of Teaching Committee and Higher Degree Research Supervision Panels and has delivered lectures at conferences like the 10th Annual World Congress of Advanced Materials (2024).
