Position Summary

Department Summary

Oregon Tech is one of the top public regional universities in the western United States and is consistently ranked among the top public colleges in the nation by US News & World Report. Oregon Tech has multiple locations including a rural campus in Klamath Falls, an urban campus in Portland-Metro, and an online campus. Each campus offers a variety of undergraduate and Master’s degree programs. Oregon Tech prides itself on delivering a high-quality, hands-on educational experience distinguished by a low student-to-faculty ratio.

Oregon Tech’s Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering and Technology (MMET) department is growing rapidly – both due to increasing enrollment and new opportunities to develop applied research programs. MMET is already one of the largest departments at Oregon Tech and currently offers 4 undergraduate and graduate degrees at our 3 campuses in the Pacific Northwest:

• Klamath Falls

• Portland-Metro

• Seattle (Boeing students only)

The degrees include:

• BS Mechanical Engineering

• BS Mechanical Engineering Technology

• BS Manufacturing Engineering Technology

• MS Manufacturing Engineering Technology

All of our undergraduate programs are accredited by ABET. We place a very strong emphasis on hands-on learning and project work. Our students are active in competitions such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE and RoboSub; and many students take advantage of the internship opportunities offered through MECOP – a unique internship alliance driven collaboratively by Oregon’s engineering universities, their respective student bodies, and industry partners.

We’re also growing our applied research presence through industry collaboration including a leadership role in the Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center (OMIC).

Oregon Tech is investing heavily in the future of the MMET department. On the Klamath Falls campus, the MMET workshops and laboratories are well-equipped including the state-of-the-art Additive Manufacturing facilities at the Center for Excellence in Engineering & Technology (CEET). The CEET building include collaboration spaces, makerspaces, labs, and virtual classrooms to deliver lectures simultaneously to all Oregon Tech campuses, community colleges and industry partners.
