26-84 Communications & Marketing Coordinator (Library Technician, WCU INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY)

The hours of this position are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The University Libraries empower intellectual exploration through building connections, collections, and community. As an active partner in the University's academic programs, the libraries are a major contributor to WCU's core mission of student success. The faculty members serve as both instructors of information literacy and stewards of library resources. The staff members support the operation of the libraries whether it be assisting patrons at help desks, making the various library resources ready for patron use, or providing access to library technology.
The University Libraries Communications and Marketing Coordinator, reporting to the Associate Dean of University Libraries (UL), supports and implements the Libraries' strategic communication and marketing strategies. The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will implement strategies to promote and increase awareness of the University Libraries' resources, services, programs, initiatives, and achievements.
The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service skills; the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a diverse campus community including faculty, staff and students while contributing to a positive and professional work environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Research, plan, and implement projects and/or proposals to promote UL priorities, services, and programs
- Plan, design, write, copy-edit, and produce print and digital promotional materials—from concept to completion and distribution—including publications, brochures, flyers, event promotions, signage, and wayfinding
- Create and curate engaging visual and multimedia content (images, photos, videos, interviews, news, and stories) for University Libraries communications channels such as the blog, newsletter, website, and social media
- Plan and maintain a publications calendar with regular posts including blog stories, newsletter, social media, events, and other content
- Attend University Libraries events to source content, images, and videos
- Ensure all communications adhere to West Chester University and University Libraries. communications guidelines, style guides, and policies
- Develop and implement UL brand strategies
- Serve as the team lead for the social media Team
- Manage the Libraries' social media presence to strengthen visibility and engagemen
- Assist library users at library service desks as scheduled
- Take on special projects and assignments as requested
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Four years of library-clerical work including two years of advanced library clerical work comparable to Library Assistant II, and graduation from high school OR
- Two years of advanced library clerical work, and an associate degree or equivalent training with major course work in library science OR
- Bachelor's degree
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of library techniques, procedures, and working tools used in accessing, cataloging, circulating; and maintaining library materials
- Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in bibliography preparation and the use of library research materials
- Knowledge of reader comprehension and interest levels of library patrons
- Skill in the application of the techniques and procedures used in cataloging
- Ability to apply library methods and principles in circulation and providing reader services
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other library personnel and the public
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with producing and distributing promotional materials in an academic library or higher education setting
- Experience with brand management for an academic library or higher education institution
- Experience managing social media platforms
- Experience using Canva, Adobe, or similar design applications
- Experience using Springshare or related applications
- Customer service experience
- Excellent written communication skills
- Microsoft 365 experience
- Experience working with college student employees
- Experience using Alma or related library service platforms
