26-95 Off Shift Plumber Foreman (Plumber Supervisor) INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY - Plant Operations

The shift available is Monday to Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

The Facilities Division designs, constructs and maintains a dynamic, safe, and sustainable campus to continually advance its nationally benchmarked living and learning community. The WCU Off Shift Plumber Foreman will lead and manage a team which performs the regular and routine maintenance of equipment in WCU's educational and general buildings. The Off Shift Plumber Foreman will have a strong understanding of how buildings operate functionally and mechanically.

As the Off Shift Shop Plumber Foreman, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The foreman will work closely with faculty, staff, and their shop to deliver exceptional results on time and within budget. This role requires excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to solve problems effectively. The shop's primary function is to minimize unplanned equipment failure and ensure optimal functionality of campus buildings.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, customer service, problem-solving and organizational skills; can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment. Must be a self-starter, able to recognize problems and determine proper repair solutions and corrective courses of action.

As a member of the Facilities Divisional staff, this position is deemed essential. Essential employees must remain or report to work during partial or full day closings of the University due to hazardous road conditions, emergency circumstances or for other reasons.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, supervise, train & a team of maintenance technicians of various skill sets, manage equipment, supplies & vehicles on various campus projects.
  • Review work orders daily in CMMS. Assign, schedule & close out work orders with all necessary data.
  • Submit project estimates of materials & labor hours from project plans, scope, blueprints and/or walkthroughs.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety practices of trades.
  • Prepare annual employee performance reviews on all assigned direct reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One year as a Plumber 2 (commonwealth title);
  • OR
  • Three years as a Plumber 1 (commonwealth title);
  • OR
  • Six years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing components and fixtures including three years performing plumbing installation and repair assignments independently in commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential structures;
  • OR
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes three years performing plumbing installation and repair assignments independently in commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential structures.
  • Valid Driver's License

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and practices of the plumbing and pipefitting trades.
  • Knowledge of regulations, building codes, and the safety and hazard precautions related to plumbing and piping systems.
  • Knowledge of the care and use of tools used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems, fixtures, and components.
  • Knowledge of flows, pressure, and capacity of water tanks and lines.
  • Knowledge of the use and functionality of Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Ability to troubleshoot system issues using diagnostic methods and processes of the plumbing and pipefitting trades.
  • Ability to create diagrams and drawings that lay out the piping material, sizing, and components necessary to perform piping system installations and modifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret HVAC, architectural, plumbing, and electrical system blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
