4-H Program Educator
Job Summary
The 4-H Program Educator is part of the Division of Extension Wisconsin 4-H Program, housed within the Positive Youth Development (PYD) Institute. The PYD Institute works to engage Wisconsin youth in opportunities to learn, lead, grow, and thrive. The Wisconsin 4-H Program involves over 24,000 youth members and 8,000 adult volunteer leaders. This position provides leadership for a county-based 4-H program, including roles in Program Administration, Volunteer Management, and Education and Youth Advocacy.
Program Administration
- Provides leadership to expand 4-H membership and ensure quality experiences.
- Ensures all 4-H programs align with Wisconsin 4-H purpose, vision, and values.
- Oversight for policy and risk management.
- Cultivates partnerships to expand programming.
Volunteer Management
- Manages volunteers delivering 4-H programming.
- Establishes a comprehensive volunteer development system including identification, selection, orientation, training, utilization, recognition, and evaluation.
- Provides coaching and support to volunteers.
- Ensures compliance with relevant policies.
Education and Youth Advocacy
- Utilizes various delivery methods for youth development content.
- Serves as a connection to educational resources from Wisconsin 4-H, UW-Madison Division of Extension, and USDA.
- Supports youth engagement and leadership.
- Facilitates positive youth development through programs and activities.
The main office is in Alma, WI, with a primary focus on Buffalo County. Work is required in-person, onsite, and may include occasional evenings, weekends, and travel.

Compensation
Minimum annual starting salary: $59,603, negotiable based on experience.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in youth development programming.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication.
- Ability to work with diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience leading educational programs.
- Experience managing volunteers or staff.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures.
- Ability to collaborate with organizations.
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree. Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant field.
