Description:
Directs and coordinates the academic advising activities of a college or major educational office. 1. Directs, implements and evaluates advising activities for a college or major office. 2. Interprets and communicates academic policies and procedures to faculty, students and staff. 3. Coordinates and supervises the mailing of all letters of recommendation to professional schools and maintains statistics on the number of students entering professional school. 4. Conducts career counseling workshops and provides advise on field of study. 5. Participates in class schedule development and registration tasks, including problem enrollments, drop/adds, and so forth. 6. Supervises the compilation and analyses of data and the preparation of related management reports. 7. Acts as liaison with university administration and faculty on academic matters. 8. Performs other job-related duties as required. Staff member will have responsibilities for assisting with graduate student recruiting and advising in selected CLASS graduate programs, with a primary responsibility for assisting the History department, and a secondary mandate to assist with graduate recruiting and other college-level initiatives. Staff member will report to College Graduate Program Manager. Duties include: 1. Advises enrolled and prospective History students regarding academic programs and curriculums. 2. Coordinates recruiting and admissions activities in the History Department. 3. Maintains History student files updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary. 4. At the college level, assist in implementing recruiting communications plans to assist multiple departments with graduate recruiting. 5. Works with College Graduate Program Director on thesis and dissertation completion procedures and on graduation certification. Experience will be considered in lieu of education. MQ: Requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge. Knowledge of this level is typically obtained through a directly job-related Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
