Position Highlights
The Eller College of Management's Undergraduate Programs Office is seeking an experienced professional with effective problem solving, data analytics, and communication skills to join the team as the Academic Advisor II. This role supports student success initiatives by providing strategic advising support, conducting data-informed analysis of student populations and contributing to college-wide student retention efforts. This position collaborates with advising team and college leadership to enhance the student experience and support institutional goals related to student persistence and degree completion including developing data-informed communications that support student progress. As a member of the Eller Academic Advising Team, the academic advisor II will regularly advise students in various capacities.

Duties & Responsibilities
Academic Advising and Student Support
- Provide holistic academic advising that supports student success, persistence, and timely degree completion. Monitor student academic progress; alert leadership regarding bottlenecks in course access or prepare and disburse customized lists for advisors that mark student achievement.
- Support the college's student success and retention efforts by proactively engaging with targeted student populations such as students at critical academic periods or students approaching key academic milestones.
- Provide reports on student academic progress and create sample growth mindset messaging that advisors can quickly customize and efficiently deliver to students through various digital communication channels, including email, text messages, and social media.
- Act as part of the Academic Advising Team and participate in ongoing advising services throughout the year and partner with them to support college-specific retention initiatives.
Data Analysis and Strategic Insights
- Utilize advising dashboards and other tools to understand student populations and identify opportunities for proactive development, implementation and refinement of programs and services within the Eller College of Management.
- Utilize customized and timely reports, assessment protocols, and data analysis to provide insights that inform leadership decision-making, support the development of targeted programming for specific student populations, and guide initiatives aimed at improving student persistence and timely degree completion.
- Regularly communicate key data findings regarding characteristics of student populations to college leadership.
Institutional Collaboration and Assessment
- Participate in benchmarking studies aimed at identifying best practices, expanding services, or other initiatives to support student persistence.
- Participate and represent The Eller College in campus-wide retention, assessment, and student success initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Outstanding analytical abilities; able to leverage student data to identify patterns and other factors to inform programming for academic and student support services, conduct outreach campaigns, etc.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities; able to effectively communicate findings gained through data analysis.
- Proactive problem-solving skills.
- Strong spreadsheet and database skills.
- A demonstrated ability to take the initiative to handle multiple tasks with attention to detail and the ability to perform in a rapidly changing environment.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Three years of relevant experience in student development, helping professions, career counseling, or related fields or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Academic Advising experience.
- Significant experience with UAccess Student, UAccess Analytics, and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with data-driven decision-making processes.
