PURPOSE
The Academic Coaching Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the implementation, coordination, and assessment of academic coaching and student success initiatives that support the university's commitment to student success and retention. The Coordinator manages the day-to-day operations of the academic coaching program, including supervision of Academic Success Coaches and peer coaches, coordination of intervention strategies and student support efforts, and implementation of coaching-related programming. In collaboration with the Director of Seminar & Retention, the Coordinator ensures students receive high-quality coaching and support services designed to promote academic persistence and success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations: 55%
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the academic coaching program, including coordination of student caseloads, coach assignments, and service delivery.
- Supervise Academic Success Coaches and peer coaches by providing guidance, direction, and support related to coaching practices, case management, and student success initiatives.
- Coordinate intervention strategies and outreach efforts for students experiencing academic difficulty, including conditionally admitted students, students on academic probation and in academic recovery, and other identified student populations.
- Support the implementation of departmental goals, coaching initiatives, and retention efforts in collaboration with the Director of Seminar & Retention.
- Assist with teaching assigned university seminar sections.
- Coordinate academic coaching-related events, workshops, and engagement opportunities that support student success and persistence.
Program Management: 35%
- Coordinate academic coaching program functions and student success initiatives to ensure effective service delivery and alignment with departmental priorities.
- Collaborate with campus partners, including departments involved in student transition and retention efforts, to support cross-departmental student success initiatives such as Summer Bridge programming.
- Generate and analyze reports on student trends, risk indicators, coaching utilization, and program outcomes utilizing student success technology platforms, including Starfish.
- Communicate findings and trends to departmental leadership to support data-informed decision making and continuous improvement.
- Assist in the implementation and assessment of coaching interventions, student engagement efforts, and program effectiveness.
Supervisory Management: 10%
- Support the hiring, onboarding, training, and professional development of Academic Success Coaches and peer coaches in collaboration with the Director of Seminar & Retention.
- Provide ongoing feedback and supervision to coaching staff to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and high-quality student support.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of academic coaching services and identify opportunities for improvement in coaching practices and case management.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Seminar & Retention or other appropriate administrators.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or related field
- Six (6) years of related experience in student services, academic coaching, advising, retention, student success, or related areas.
- Additional education may be considered as a substitution for the minimum requirements
Master's degree and four (4) years of related experience in student services, academic coaching, advising, retention, student success, or related areas; OR Doctoral degree and two (2) years of related experience in student services, academic coaching, advising, retention, student success, or related areas.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Intermediate proficiency skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong critical thinking, memorization, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while developing strong collaborative relationships.
- Ability to exercise excellent professional judgment and discretion, making decisions regularly that impact student welfare and the institution.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Education or related field.
- Experience working in academic coaching, retention, advising, or student success programs in higher education.
- Experience with student success technology platforms (e.g., Starfish, Navigate, Argos, Laserfiche, Banner).
- Experience supervising professional and/or student staff.
- Experience designing and implementing student success interventions, outreach efforts, or coaching initiatives.
- Experience teaching first-year courses, such as university seminar.
SALARY: $4,180.17 Monthly ($50,162.04 Annually, Approximately)
