Job Description

The Office of the University Registrar is looking for an individual to join our team as an Academic Compliance Specialist. As a member of our team you will play a critical role in supporting core registrar operations by ensuring compliance with academic, institutional, and regulatory requirements related to graduation certification, student-athlete academic eligibility, diploma processing, and state tuition policies.

Important Points

  1. You will be joining the Office of the University Registrar: a department dedicated to assisting students in navigating their academic journey at Virginia Tech from admission to beyond graduation.
  2. You will report directly to the Associate Registrar for Graduation & Academic Compliance. This position is a regular, calendar-year staff appointment.
  3. Your primary responsibilities will encompass ensuring compliance with academic, institutional, and regulatory requirements related to graduation certification, student-athlete academic eligibility, diploma processing, and state tuition policies.
  4. You will have the chance to expand your knowledge of the university and pursue career advancement within the Office of the University Registrar.
  5. The salary of this position is commensurate with experience up to an expected budget max of $45,000 - $46,000, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, and retirement options.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures
  • Strong computer skills to include data entry
  • Knowledge of programs and office applications
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement
  • Demonstrated data analysis experience
  • Ability to process large volumes of work while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Ability to quickly adjust to shifting priorities
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact comfortably and respectfully with all individuals in a diverse multicultural environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in analyzing data and drawing conclusions
  • Advanced computer experience including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and word
  • Experience with large-scale relational databases
  • Knowledge of university degree requirements and academic eligibility policies
  • Experience working with academic requirements, degree audits, academic records
  • Prior reconciliation and proofreading experience
