Academic Obstetrician Gynecologist with MIGS Training
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario invites applications for ONE full-time (1.0 FTE) Academic Obstetrician Gynecologist with subspecialty training in minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon (MIGS) in the Special Appointment category. The successful candidate will join the staff at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Hamilton (SJHH). You will be joining three MIGS trained surgeons. Our MIGS surgical group provides regional and local consultation for complex gynecologic surgeries and has strong collaborative relationships with our on-site multidisciplinary surgical and diagnostic imaging services including interventional radiology. The group has launched the first gynecologic robotics program in Hamilton and has a McMaster Fellowship Program in MIGS. McMaster offers care in Obstetrics and Gynecology for the City of Hamilton, and LHINs 3 and 4 (Waterloo Wellington, Hamilton Niagara, Haldimand and Brant). SJHH covers approximately 3,200 deliveries per year. The position start date will be 2026 and can be negotiated with the successful candidate.
The successful candidate is expected to have experience and commitment to teaching all levels of learners, including medical students, residents and clinical fellows, and will provide leadership and training to future physicians.
The candidate will be expected to fully participate in all appropriate departmental and divisional administrative and educational activities. The candidate must have demonstrated capability and interest in clinical research and show evidence of a history of research productivity to align with the departmental academic mission and vision.
This position is a full-time faculty position in the Special Appointment category, for a period of three years (renewable). Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salary is comprised of, largely, fee-for-service activities.
