Academic Professional (Associate Director, Writing and Communication Program)
Job Summary
The Writing and Communication Program (https://wcprogram.lmc.gatech.edu/) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty member to serve as Associate Director of the Writing and Communication Program, effective August 1, 2026. This is a 12-month position on a promotion-eligible career ladder. The Associate Director will work collaboratively with other WCP leadership and faculty to advance teaching excellence, support faculty development, and strengthen Georgia Tech’s culture of writing and communication. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to teaching and mentoring students.

Job Responsibilities
- Teaching four courses per fiscal year in first-year writing and/or technical communication
- Developing and managing the WCP course schedule in collaboration with program leadership and the Registrar’s Office
- Contributing to faculty mentoring, orientation, and professional preparation
- Collaborating on program assessment and curricular development
- Serving on committees at the program, college, and Institute level
- Engaging with relevant scholarship in writing studies and/or writing program administration
- Performing other duties as assigned in support of program needs
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or a closely related field by the start of the appointment
- Minimum of five years of experience teaching writing and/or technical communication at the postsecondary level
- Minimum of one year of experience in an administrative role
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated intellectual commitment to writing pedagogy and/or writing program administration
- Experience teaching multimodal writing
- Experience with academic scheduling and curricular logistics
- Experience in writing program administration or comparable leadership roles
- Ability to promote an inclusive and welcoming educational/work environment
- Ability to adopt teaching strategies that support the learning and success of all students
- Ability to engage in high-impact practices that support deep learning for student success
Salary
The annual salary range for this position is $80,000–$90,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
