The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1) full-time, non-tenure track lecturer position in art history with a nine-month appointment, with a possibility for renewal. The start date for this position is January 01, 2026. PVFA and the Section of Visual, Material & Performance Cultures seek an individual who will teach art history survey courses covering art from pre-historic times to the 21st century and participate in academic service. The survey courses are typically taught as large lecture classes (both face-to-face and online delivery) that serve undergraduate majors in the Bachelor of Science in Visualization program, the Minor in Art, the Minor in Art and Architectural History, and the University Core Curriculum. Candidates with expertise visual studies more broadly are especially encouraged to apply.

The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) is a new college withing the Texas A&M University System and has a wide-ranging and dynamic mission with 100 faculty and over 30 staff members and projected growth in the next four years.. The college was formed from three departments/programs spread across the university: the Department of Visualization, the Department of Performance Studies, and the Dance Science Program. The mission of PVFA places a heavy emphasis on faculty and student collaboration and interdisciplinary work in both scholarly and creative research. Texas A&M University leadership has charged the college with developing innovative research and creative works, public performances, and degree offerings at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels that build upon our strength in merging art and science, as well as the traditional fields of art, music, dance, and theater. Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Art History or a related field, or a M.A. in Art History or related field, and significant teaching experience at the college level in the field or related field.

Preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D. in Art History and extensive university teaching experience.
