Why The Role Matters:

The position provides authoritative advice on academic governance, accreditation, policy implementation and continuous improvement for ADA undergraduate and postgraduate academic offerings. The role works in close partnership with academic leaders, professional staff and governance bodies, exercising independent judgement and senior professional leadership in academic quality and governance matters.

The Academic Quality Manager plays a key role in supporting the Deputy Dean Education, Associate Dean (Academic Quality), Heads of Schools and Deputy Heads of Schools to develop and implement the educational strategy, informed by policy, data and practice, providing high-level advice on a range of strategic and operational education matters, project management, reporting and analytical support, strategic communications and managing key internal and external relationships.

Accountabilities: (please review the Position Description for a full list of Accountabilities)

• Provide specialised advice on a range of strategic and operational education support matters related to academic quality and governance.
• Lead the development and implementation of new education initiatives, exercising strategic influence over project plans and outcomes, including resource planning and financial oversight to support sustainable delivery.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including Deputy Heads of Schools, Academic Administration, DVCAQ, accrediting bodies, regulators and relevant sector partners, representing the faculty’s academic quality interests with credibility and authority.
• Provide leadership and direction to direct reports, developing capability, fostering high performance and embedding a culture of innovation, quality and continuous improvement in the provision of educational support.
• Identify, manage and escalate academic quality, compliance and accreditation risks, providing strategic advice to senior leaders on mitigation strategies and institutional exposure.
• Manage the operations of the Faculty Academic Quality team and actively develop and implement practices and procedures to support and enhance the quality of education/teaching activities of the faculty.
• Work closely with Academic and Professional leadership across the faculty and schools to ensure staff are well informed of educational expectations, systems and support available.
• Develop and deliver quality reporting, analysis, feedback and evaluation to support Faculty strategic initiatives and quality management processes.

Skills and Experience: To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

• Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience in academic quality including experience with program development or accreditation processes.
• High level leadership, influencing and negotiation skills and proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and teams.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality deliverables.
• Extensive operational management skills including planning, priority setting, and staff management, as well as excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines using judgement and initiative.
• Demonstrated capacity to interpret and implement complex university policies and procedures.
• Significant experience in developing, delivering and continually improving processes and systems, including project management and change management processes.
