About the Role

The Access Project Officer will play a key part in expanding access to higher education for students from underrepresented and disadvantaged communities. Working collaboratively with targeted schools across metropolitan and regional areas, the incumbent will design and deliver initiatives that inspire and support students to pursue further study.

The role will proactively develop innovative strategies to engage adult learners, strengthening their participation, outreach, and transition into higher education. This includes building strong partnerships with university teams, vocational education providers, and community stakeholders to create clear and accessible pathways.

A core aspect of the role involves promoting university courses, pathways, and entry options to both school students and adult learners across the state. The incumbent will engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, coordinating and delivering impactful Education Pathways initiatives.

This position makes a significant contribution to the University’s strategic plan to changing 10 million lives, Every One Matters, by 2035 through the implementation of Flinders University programs and initiatives aimed at raising the aspirations of school students and adult learners to participate in higher education.

About You

You are a confident and collaborative professional with highly developed interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with school communities, including staff, students, and parents, as well as adult learners and university stakeholders. Your ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, allows you to engage with diverse audiences.

You bring excellent organisational skills, with a proven ability to plan, prioritise, and manage competing tasks while consistently meeting deadlines. You are equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team, demonstrating initiative, reliability, and a solutions-focused mindset.

Experience working with young people is essential, particularly those from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds, including Aboriginal communities. You have a strong understanding of the challenges these groups may face and are committed to supporting equitable access to education.

You hold a relevant tertiary qualification, or an equivalent combination of experience and training within education or the community/human services sector.
